The Gridland Army
The Gridland Army is the largest military force in the known world. Numbering around Two-million, the army acts as a national guard in times of peace. The army is organized into regiments of thousands, and each regular soldier is trained to obey their chain of command without question. On the battlefield the army's tactics are unmatched, and they act as incredibly disciplined and unified force.
Ranks
General[0/1]: Commander of the entire army, who often leads battle campaigns. ThoFie, they must listen to the emperor of Gridland
Captains[0/5]: An officer type rank. They command large regiments consisting of thousands of solders. In times of peace they are often found leading forts and strongholds throFieout Gridland. Captains also act as lords and Barons, and sometimes own significant portions of land.
Sergeants[0/5]: A group leader, the Sergeant is an officer type rank falling under that of Captain. Sergeants Command small squads work as on unified force to form a regiment of thousands, which is in turn commanded by a captain. Unlike Captains, Sergeants work much more closely with small group of soldiers they are Arseigned to. Also, They are usually on the battlefield much more frequently.
Knight & Dame[0/10]: A Knight & Dame is a soldier that fights on horseback using pol-arms and such. This rank is right next to the Cavaliers.
Cavaliers[0/10]: The next rank up from regular Soldiers and Archers, Cavaliers are masters at the use of polearm weapons. They are also given a horse by the Empire. In battle, they accompany the final few waves, and are thereby considered more important than the average foot soldier.
Archers[Unlimited]: Ranked at the same level as a Soldier, Archers are much the same as their close quarters counterparts. The only difference is that Archers specialize in bows and crossbows. They usually occupy the second wave in times of battle, just behind the Soldiers on the front-lines. In times of peace, their tole is much the same as a soldier; they act as city guards, patrols and escorts.
Soldiers[Unlimited]: The most standard rank in The Gridland Army, Soldiers are infantrymen who occupy the front lines in times of battle. In times of peace they act as patrols, Merchant escorts, city guards, scouts and messengers.
